REPLACE — Photo Essay Title

13 MAY 2026 · 2 min read

REPLACE — opening paragraph. The convention I’d start with: name the subject in the first sentence, name what drew you to it in the second, and let the third sentence be the one that’s a little quieter than it needs to be. The rest of the essay can sprawl.

REPLACE — middle of the essay. Two to four paragraphs. Where you were, what you were doing, what the photographs are doing in the essay (illustrating, anchoring, or doing the heavy lifting themselves). If the photos are doing the heavy lifting, the prose can be sparse.

REPLACE — closing. A line that earns being the last line.

If this is going to ship as the photography seed post for v1, the easiest path is to pick one subject you’ve shot a lot of1 and write the version of this essay that’s already mostly written in your head.
